About Big Swell Swim - Our Story and Vision
Big Swell Swim started in Devil's Lake in 2014 with a vision of swimmers and triathletes enjoying one of the most beautiful and clean bodies of water in the Madison area in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Big Swell is locally owned and operated by lifelong swimmer and professional triathlete Jackie Hering along with her husband Mark. Mark and Jackie have racing experience from all over the country and understand what it takes to put on high quality events.
Big Swell Swim has quickly grown from a fun idea to a well-known destination swim event for many athletes. Whether this is your goal race, or a stepping stone in training for a long distance triathlon, everyone can appreciate the heart and soul we pour into making this a great event for all abilities and experience levels.
We enjoyed expanding with our second location, at McKinley Beach in Milwaukee in 2017 and 2018, but are taking a break from Milwaukee - with this races future TBD.
In 2019 we added the Clean Lakes Alliance (CLA) Shoreline Swim to our roster and will be producing the swim in a continued partnership with the Clean Lakes Alliance. This swim takes place in Lake Monona, in Madison, WI and offers beautiful views of the city! We are excited to grow this great event and provide a useful donation to the CLA. Since 2019 we have donated close to $10,000.
